Kendall Boiler Building Restoration

CAMBRIDGE, MA

The Kendall Boiler & Tank Company building, was a late 19th century industrial landmark complex in Cambridge, MA. Having been left vacant for many years, it was restored and converted into office space providing approximately 8,000 SF of floor area with up to date mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and data systems. Within this historic loadbearing masonry structure of steel and heavy timber members, a second story was added to part of the large interior volume and an underground parking garage was incorporated below grade. With the approval of the Cambridge Historic Commission, the renovation included masonry restoration, extensive roof repairs, the rebuilding of doors and windows in their original historic masonry openings, a new elevator, and upgrades for accessibility.
