Coolidge Corner Tricentennial Monument
BROOKLINE, MA
A stainless-steel monument, dramatic lighting and canopy embellishments were boldly added to the roof of this iconic art deco styled retail building at the heart of Coolidge Corner in Brookline. Designed to commemorate the Tricentennial anniversary of the Town’s incorporation (1705-2005), the roof structure required considerable reinforcement to support the 25-foot-tall steel beacon. The decorative spheres atop the main spire each represent a century of Brookline’s history as a Town. Safety protocols, throughout the construction process, were of paramount importance as the building is located at one of the busiest pedestrian and vehicular intersections of Brookline and was fully occupied during construction.
